Job Description

B) Operations / Production Interns

General Requirements:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).

1. SRB0C1 (Engine Production - 1)

  • Exposure to the shift work where dynamic world. Understand the EM EIPC of engine shop
  • Exposed to operational system on TIMWOOD, 6S
  • Work on improvement project
  • Learn component repairs, engine/module build and strip processes for the Trent family of engines
  • Compiling and Clearing Paperwork for completed engine
  • Borescope Inspection Process Flow
  • Standard Operation Procedure T700
  • Trent 1000 lifting at Build A and Hydro Stand lifting
  • Induction Engine unloading
  • Assist in process improvement projects and administrative work
  • Must be willing to do shift work.

Requirements - Microsoft office

 

2. SRB0C2 (Engine Production - 2)

  • Exposed to operational system on TIMWOOD, 6S
  • Work on improvement project
  • Learn component repairs, engine/module build and strip processes for the Trent family of engines
  • SOP of Engine Oil and Chemical Disposal
  • Induction Engine Unloading
  • Update various charts required by supervisor for planning purposes
  • Involve in projects as assigned
  • Assist team leaders with paperwork accountability
  • Must be willing to do shift work
  • Require the intern to work on shift
  • The intern will be exposure and prepare the student for the dynamic & changing world to adapt to shift work
  • The student will be able to appreciate ATA chapter, EM, EIPC thru the attachment.

3. SRB0C3 (Engine Production - 3)

  • Exposed to operational system on TIMWOOD, 6S
  • Work on improvement project
  • Learn component repairs, engine/module build and strip processes for the Trent family of engines
  • SOP of Engine Oil and Chemical Disposal
  • Induction Engine unloading
  • Implement Tagging System for end-to-end parts accountability (Strip-Sentence-Kit-Build)
  • Standardize end-to-end work practices from Strip-Sentence, Kit & Build
  • Account for parts removed at every stage of operations
  • Eliminate errors at the place of occurrence
  • On the job training. Projects. Exposure to Ending build and strip. Exposure to usage of manuals and tools/equipment.

4. SRB0C5 (Engine Production - 5)

  • Exposure in Receiving check & Borescope inspection of engine environment
  • To familiar with the equipment used in Receiving check & Borescope inspection
  • Assist in monitoring / review of Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost for the section
  • To update the various file for the above 4 KPI's (MS office, VB & Power BI knowledge)
  • Liaise with other sections to support the section requirement.

4. SRB0IP (Engine Inspect)

  • Assist in checking documentation and record-keeping of the maintenance activities
  • Participate and assist MRB in post review checks
  • Participate and improve work area condition through one improvement project
  • Checking and ensure timely update of the OS board
  • Perform basic tasks such as sorting of blanks, ensure cleanliness of the workplace and arranging of parts if require.

Requirements - proficient in MS Office

 

5. SRB3C2 (Module Production - 2)

  • Hands-on experience in aerospace field and opportunity to enhance technical skills
  • Exposure to real world work challenges, workplace dynamics, culture, and expectations.

6. SRB3C3 (Module Production - 3)

  • Familiarized with SAESL Operating System (SAESL OS), gaining insight into its functions and role in driving organizational performance and workflow management.

8. SRB3C6 (Module Production - 6)

a) Project-Based Learning:

12. SRRNGV (Nozzle Guide Vanes)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and Engineering knowledge
  • Follow the morning Team to update production, documents as and when required by Team Leader / Head
  • Report to work from 08:00 - 17:30 as per normal shift
  • Follow up with all safety requirements per SAESL / Cell standard.

Requirements - Excel, words, Power points and other programs is an advantage

 

13. SRRPFB (Fan Blade Cell)

  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of fan blade repair methodologies, including the comprehensive inspection and assessment of aircraft components.
  • Master advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques, such as ultrasonic inspection, to ensure component integrity and safety compliance.
  • Gain expertise in the peening process, which enhances the surface durability and fatigue resistance of aircraft parts.
  • Develop proficiency in vibropolishing processes, focusing on achieving precision surface finishing and restoring component functionality.
  • Understand the intricacies of the plasma spray process, utilized for applying protective coatings to enhance performance and extend the lifespan of critical components.


14. SRRPP1 (Plasma)

  • Assist technician in thermal spray operations
  • Observe all Environmental, Health and Safety Policy requirements
  • Always keeping work area neat and orderly
  • Wearing appropriate respiratory gear when working inside thermal spray booth
  • Process mapping, flow and relevant documents
  • Basic knowledge OS related to SQCDP

Requirements - Basic Microsoft

 

15. SRRPS1 (STD Repair Cell - 1)

  • Lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives within the cell, focusing on enhancing key operational metrics such as Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Workforce, and Machinery, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Assist in the execution of First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) activities, ensuring compliance with established quality and production standards.
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineer to upgrade and optimize tooling systems, contributing to the enhancement of manufacturing efficiency and precision.
  • Support the commissioning of upcoming projects, ensuring seamless integration and execution of new processes and systems.
  • Provide assistance in Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and quality investigations, while drafting communication materials for the shop floor as directed by senior leadership.

16. SRRPS2 (STD Repair Cell - 2)

  • Engaged in stock intake and organizing of consumables participating in OS meetings and updating of 3c charts, AND SQCDP charts by printing and organising
  • Help relocate engine parts for GR2 with various departments.
  • Updating the list on various GR2 racks. Pmo and engine numbers help modify and upgrade of various labels in GR2 (6s, TPM and tool checks)
  • Help organise and scan checklist and various charts for safekeeping updating PPE And “Point of Use” PoU for GR2
  • Admin stuff such as organizing the files and relabelling worn labels assisted in getting the required tools for calibration at the EMS located at level 1
  • Prepare Thermocouples for heat treatment process with operators
  • Help extracting oven charts for team leaders and heads for review
  • Participate in weekly/monthly walks done by management to review various processes in cell
  • Help head of department by participating in daily toolbox meetings, attach to team leaders during various audits to observe and learn.

 

17. SRRPS3 (STD Repair Cell - 3)

  • Facilitate / lead continuous improvement activities in the cell (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People, Machines)

  • Upgrade and improve tooling as guided by cell Manufacturing Engineer
  • Assist with commissioning of upcoming projects

19. SRRSTV (Stator Vane)

  • Meeting key team members and understanding roles
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Exposure to data analysis, generate reporting or data compilations for SORB number Load increase 2026
  • Team collaboration and communication
  • Interaction with other teams to gain knowledge on the SAESL OS Tools and functions.

20. SRTR00 (Engineering - Training & Development)

Interns assigned to the Training & Development department will gain the following:

1) Exposure to various training courses provided by T&D dept, such as Aviation regulations, Human Factors/Safety management System, Gas Turbine Engine/Rolls Royce Trent Engines which include site visit to various engine and component overhaul facilities

2) Task to handle/support various T&D improvement projects/activities, examples as follow:

  • improvements to training contents and improvements (rigs) for Trainee Technician/Direct Technician training
  • improvements to training materials (hardware, spares) management
  • Exposure to practical, classroom or online CBA assessments and interviews
  • Work on training facility upkeep and projects
  • Work with trainers in developing new training contents, materials and quizzes
  • improvements to training facility (5S)

3) Support day-to-day training activities requirements, such as administering laptop required by trainees

  • Exposure to practical, classroom or online CBA assessments and interviews

21. SRQDHS (Heath, Safety and Environment)

a) Onboarding and Orientation:

  • Collaborate with engine and module planning teams to align component repairs with the build schedule

  • Escalate issues when repairs are at risk of not meeting the planned timeline.

Requirements - Proficient in MS Excel, Knowledge in SAP and/or Power BI would be an advantage.

 

23. SRQDCM (Compliance)

  • Gain hands-on experience in Quality Management Systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices
  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of Aircraft Engine Maintenance Processes, including procedures for inspection, repair, and servicing
  • Actively participate in Internal Quality Audits, supporting the evaluation and enhancement of operational quality controls and regulatory compliance.
