Job Description

Responsibilities 

1. Compliance and Reporting

  • Together with Senior Tax Specialist, manage the tax compliance (direct and indirect taxes, including withholding taxes) activities for EDPR APAC platform.
  • Support tax team in preparation for annual audit by external auditor.
  • Support in the preparation / review of quarterly tax provisions (current and deferred taxes) and quarterly tax reporting packages for Global Reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and control tax compliance, tax accounting and tax reporting activities within assigned geographies. 

 

2. Operational Tax Advisory

  • Work with other business functions such as Accounting, Corporate Finance, Treasury, Planning and Control, Procurement, Mergers & Acquisitions, to handle routine tax queries, etc.
  • Understand the intercompany recharge matters from a tax perspective and assist Senior Tax Specialist in formulating solutions for the business function requiring the clarifications.
  • Follow legislative changes in selected market where the Group is expanding and monitor their respective impact in Group’s operations.
  • Work with APAC Tax Manager to implement the tax planning opportunities arising from the daily operational work.

 

3. Tax Advisory Project(s)

  • Participate in tax advisory project(s) as observer and assist APAC Tax Manager in compiling key discussion paper(s).

 

Learning Outcomes

Have an appreciation of tax function in commercial environment versus professional accountancy firm. Gain exposure to a variety of taxes handled in-houses versus professional accountancy firm where the student will only be exposed to one type of taxes. Gain exposure on the importance of collaboration amongst teams.
