Seagate Research Group conducts research to transform Seagate’s considerable technical expertise, innovation, and manufacturing excellence to develop innovative technologies for the rapidly growing datasphere.
Data Storage and Memory Devices research explore novel data storage technology at device and systems level and create proof-of-concept (PoC) for the fast-growing datasphere and further exploring device innovations at micro/nano scale that leverage Seagate core competencies.
About the Role:
As an intern with Seagate Research Group, you'll embark on an exciting journey to research and develop groundbreaking proof of concepts for the future of data storage. This role is ideal for someone passionate about contributing to cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic research environment.
- Collaborate with Seagate’s experienced researchers in device and platform development, focusing on creating environmentally sustainable storage solutions.
- Apply your mechanical, thermal, and engineering knowledge and skills in simulation and experimentation.
- Design of experiment: Design experiments to validate and calibrate models and simulations.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze experimental data using laboratory equipment and software tools. Summarize findings and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Proof of concept: Realize the novel mechanical design idea in order to demonstrate its feasibility. Documentation: Maintain detailed lab notebooks, records, and reports to track experimental procedures, results, and observations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with global cross-functional teams, including scientists, engineers, and technicians, to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Safety and Compliance: Follow established safety protocols and adhere to company. guidelines for laboratory work. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Presentation: Prepare and deliver presentations on your findings and progress to the team, sharing insights and potential applications of the materials being studied.
About You:
We are looking for a driven and inquisitive individual who is:
- Passionate about research, with a keen interest in data analytics, modeling, and laboratory experimentation.
- An excellent problem-solver with strong analytical skills. Independent, self-motivated, and capable of working effectively in a team.
- Proficient in communication, with the ability to create clear reports and presentations.
Your Experience:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Familiar with laboratory techniques, equipment handling, and safety practices.
- Exposure to relevant academic projects or previous internships in related fields is highly desirable.
