Singapore Red Cross is a homegrown humanitarian organisation, dedicated to relieving human suffering, protecting lives and dignity and responding to emergencies since 1949. We serve the vulnerable through our blood donor recruitment programme, home and day activity centre for the disabled, elder aid, transport aid, family life aid, community health on wheels and community first aid. We build capacity and resilience through our training academy, and volunteer and youth development. Beyond our shores, we mobilise and translate contributions from the donor community to relief and recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, with the aim of helping communities affected by disasters.
JOB PURPOSE
As an IT Intern at the Singapore Red Cross Society, you will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic IT environment, supporting the organisation's technology infrastructure and contributing to impactful projects. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work within a non-profit organisation, enhancing your skills while supporting humanitarian initiatives.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. IT Support & Troubleshooting
● Provide first-line technical support to staff for hardware, software, and network-related issues. ● Assist in the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of workstations, printers, and other IT equipment. ● Document common issues and solutions for knowledge base updates.
2. System Administration ● Support user account management, including Active Directory and Google Workspace. ● Assist in monitoring and maintaining network infrastructure, ensuring security and reliability.
3. Project Support ● Contribute to ongoing IT projects such as system upgrades, cybersecurity awareness campaigns, and process improvement initiatives. ● Participate in the development and deployment of IT policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
4. Cybersecurity Support ● Assist in implementing and maintaining cybersecurity measures, including monitoring security logs and performing vulnerability checks. ● Help conduct cybersecurity awareness sessions for staff.
5. Inventory Management ● Support the IT team in maintaining accurate records of hardware and software inventory. ● Assist in the assessment and decommissioning of outdated systems.
6. Documentation & Reporting ● Create and update IT documentation, including user guides, standard operating procedures, and incident reports. ● Prepare weekly progress reports for the IT Manager.
JOB SPECIFICATION
Qualifications ● Minimum Diploma or taking undergraduate studies in any IT-related field. Technical Skills ● Basic knowledge of IT systems, networking, and troubleshooting. ● Familiarity with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite. ● Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals is an advantage. Soft Skills ● Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. ● Good written and verbal communication abilities. ● Team-oriented with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
