Job Description

This is a great and exciting opportunity for you to experience (re)insurance underwriting with a global specialty and Property & Casualty (re)insurer. You will gain exposure in both Treaty and Direct & Facultative product lines through a rotation, in preparation of account reviews for new and renewal business and deliver on service standards and timelines as required by the Underwriting team. Daily tasks will involve underwriting and business administration.

We are looking for a few interns to join us and the overall objective is for you to gain: 

  • Understanding and knowledge of (re)insurance 
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of commercial underwriting, including: 
    • Risk Selection 
    • Policy Coverage
    • Pricing
    • Underwriting Guidelines
    • Knowledge of the importance of data quality, compliance, and adherence to underwriting guidelines
    • Understanding and knowledge of clients’ and brokers’ needs, and opportunities and challenges with respect to providing insurance solutions 

Ideally you should have an educational background in finance, actuarial or engineering, and possess an interest in the insurance industry. The followings should also position the intern well:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, good teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Taking ownership of responsibilities 
  • Positive attitude with a passion to learn
  • General IT skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including but specifically Excel)
  • Knowledge or prior experience in a (re)insurance related company is advantageous
