Job Description

Looking for an undergraduate that can commit full time for a credit-bearing internship from January to May 2025 

 

Main Task: Process Maintenance

Responsibilities: As a Maintenance Intern providing support in Maintenance in the Process section, he/she is expected to perform the following task:

1) Assist maintenance engineer in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment and machinery downtime.

2) Assist in maintaining accurate records and documentation of maintenance activities.

3) Work with Engineering Store personnel in managing inventory and spare parts management.

4) Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize maintenance procedures and tasks.

5) Be part of inspection team to perform regular GEMBA of work area to identify potential issues.

6) Participate in training and professional development opportunities to improve industry knowledge and maintenance skills.

7) Work with the Planner and Scheduler in generating weekly metrics for maintenance KPI.

 

Improvement Projects: Participation in the following projects

 

A. EHS Excellence Project

Project Description: 

This project aims to improve ergonomics in the performance of maintenance activities which will create a safer, healthier and more comfortable work environment, leading to increased productivity, employee satisfaction and reduced injuries. During the course of this project, the Maintenance Intern is expected to support the Engineering Specialist to ensure the project is implemented timely.

 

Project Timeline:

• Conduct a thorough risk assessment to identify ergonomic hazards – 1 month

• Designing and implementing improvements as identified, working together with contractors and Front Line Leaders – 3 months

• Introducing new equipment or tools to reduce manual handling – 1 month (in parallel with previous point)

• Continuously monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the program – 2 months

• Improve maintenance tasks duration due to increased comfort and efficiency of the work

• Improve satisfaction of maintenance technicians who would benefit from the improved access to equipment

 

B. Improvement in Condition Monitoring Strategies

Project Description:

By improving condition monitoring, the project aims to enhance the ability to pre-empt leaks and valve failures in commonly occurring areas, reducing downtime, demand maintenance costs and product loss while increasing overall Producing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (POEE) and Reliability

 

Project Timeline:

• Identification of technologies to detect anomalies – 2 month

• Enhancing or collecting data to identify patterns and predict potential failures – 2 months

• Establish a proactive maintenance strategy based on condition monitoring data – 1 month

• Training personnel on the monitoring techniques and data interpretation – 2 weeks

• Continuously evaluate and refine the condition monitoring program – 1 month

Monthly Allowance: $1300
