Human societies have always thrived on art for the creative transformation of both the individual and the society. Art has a liberating and creative power that unshackles the individual from the grips of mere mechanic conformity or imitation. We, at Regional Arts & Cultural Academy Ltd, also known as Akademi Seni Budaya Nusantara (AKSI) registered on 28 February 2017, believe that there is a dynamic mutuality of an arts education with the society at large. Singapore can be creatively transformed when it celebrates a high quality of both artistic and intellectual discourse in the realm of arts and culture. Our Arts Academy builds on this very vision of the holistic development of the individual. An arts academy embodies this spirit of experimentation, creativity and courage - qualities that we seek to imbue in our budding artists.
Our arts academy, in partnership with University Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), the oldest teaching institution in Malaysia, becomes the meeting place of diverse ideas, practices and traditions. It embodies the spirit of synergy and heterogeneity through our diverse course offerings and multidisciplinary approach. The establishment of this academy is driven by the hope that it would become an institutional and cultural resource for Singapore and the larger Malay Archipelago.
