Job Description

Our Opportunity

The Accounting & Reporting team is responsible for the preparation of timely and accurate financial and regulatory reports to internal and external stakeholders. We currently have a vacancy for an Intern who would be interested to gain exposure in the area of Financial Reporting in the Insurance industry. 

Candidates should be able to commit either part-time (3 working days/week) or full time for a period of 6 months. This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to gain hands on accounting experience within a dynamic working environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Month end/year end closing activities such as bank reconciliations, journal postings, clearing of suspense accounts and preparation of balance sheet schedules
  • Preparation of financial and regulatory reports and support of the statutory audit
  • GST and corporate tax filings
  • Ongoing projects (e.g. process improvement, automation etc)
  • Other ad hoc assignments as required

 

Capabilities and Qualifications:

  • Currently studying or completed studies in an Finance subject-related tertiary course (i.e., Finance management and Accounting)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, in particular Excel, Power Point and Word
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, attention to detail and good team player
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills
