Argus Graduate Editorial Programme, Asia (2022 Intake)

How does the Argus Graduate Editorial Programme work? 

Reporting on and writing about markets is one of the most difficult and rewarding of all journalistic disciplines. Information is hard to find and verify; Argus customers expect the highest standards of analysis, accuracy and journalistic ethics; deadlines are unchangeable; and a mix of self-reliance and teamwork is essential. Working for Argus offers an outstanding grounding in many vital skillsets and areas of human knowledge, working on the frontiers of the energy transition and the future economics of the world.


The programme has been designed to provide you with an accelerated induction experience. In the course of the six-month programme, you will be provided with intensive training in business and economic journalism, commodity markets reporting, market analysis and the production of reports, including hands-on experience in a number of different market-reporting teams as well as with our news desk.

  • A 6-month rotational program commencing in either February 2022 or June 2022 based on your graduation date
  • You will receive immersive training in how commodity markets work, followed by a stint on a price reporting desk – preparing you to move into a permanent price reporting role in one of our commodity teams.
  • Opportunity to learn about various aspects of Oil, Metals or Generation Fuels markets.
  • Exposure to hands-on involvement in gathering data and market intelligence, contributing to the production of weekly and monthly price assessments, market analysis, news and reports.
  • You will have regular contact with commodities producers, consumers, distributors, traders and other key market figures to build relationships.
  • You will have the opportunity to edit and write news and analysis stories across a range of commodity markets
  • You will be trained to work in the price reporting function and will generate price assessments and content (including market commentary and news pieces, which power our pricing benchmarks)

Who Are We Looking For?

We want high-potential go-getters like you:

  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or completed a Master’s degree by December 2021 or Jun 2022. Preferably in Communications, Journalism, Economics, Sociology, Humanities from a reputable university.
  • Strong writing, research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (a clear concise writing style is essential together with good verbal skills, listening techniques).
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for commodities, energy markets, global business, politics and economics.
  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in English; and preferably a second language.
  • Must possess the desire and ability to work in a team-orientated environment.
  • A self­­-motivated, well-organised and inquisitive nature.
