The APEC Secretariat is based in Singapore and operates as the core support mechanism for the APEC process. It provides coordination, technical and advisory support as well as project management, information management, communications and public outreach services.
Staffed by a diverse team of diplomats, specialists, analysts and administrative experts, the APEC Secretariat performs a central project management role, assisting APEC Member Economies and APEC fora with overseeing more than 250 APEC-funded projects. The Secretariat operates as the core support mechanism for APEC’s 21 member economies and their vision for an open, dynamic, resilient and peaceful Asia-Pacific community by 2040.
PMU is comprised of 2 sub-sections: Project Selection & Governance and Project Quality.
The PMU Project Executive reports to the Director PMU, but daily oversight and direction is provided by the Project Quality Manager (PQM). The Project Executive role is currently a permanent part-time role (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday).
Key Result Areas
- Review and evaluate all Monitoring Reports (MRs) and Completion Reports (CRs) to ensure quality, compliant and complete project data and reporting
- Prepare Summary Evaluation Reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Facilitate the annual Longer-Term Evaluation of APEC Projects (LTEAP) process
- Maintain APEC project databases
- Execute discrete projects and tasks as determined by Director PMU, including:
- Perform database searches and evaluate and elaborate results in response to ad hoc and short-notice requests from internal and external stakeholders
- Research APEC Project Speakers database in consultation with PQM
- Design and test an online survey form for project participants and project overseers.
Key Accountabilities/Duties
- Review and evaluate all MRs and CRs to ensure high quality project data and compliance with APEC project reporting policies
- Prepare reports assessing project data and elaborating key issues, gaps and trends (to support PMU reporting requirements and in response to stakeholder requests)
- Communicate and negotiate as needed with internal and external stakeholders to follow up and solve compliance issues or data gaps and inconsistencies
- Maintain PMU’s project databases and ensure data is complete, accurate and consistently recorded
- Facilitate the annual LTEAP process, including initiating and coordinating the participant survey within the established timeframe
- Execute other data-driven projects and processes as needed.
