Job Description
The Opportunity
BlueHill Asset
Management’s internship program allows talented and passionate
undergraduates to learn about the venture capital industry while
spending a fulfilling attachment at the firm.
Interns
are given the opportunity to work together with entrepreneurs of young
companies under the firm’s investment portfolio, and play an active role
in the conceptualisation and implementation of new business development
and marketing approaches. They will also be involved in sourcing for
startups and doing relevant market research.
What to expect
During
the internship program, interns will focus on investment analysis and
investment reporting duties with invaluable exposure to various stages
leading to a successful investment. They will also learn first hand how
to build and maintain relationships with other VCs, Venture Partners and
Startups which they meet.
Deal Sourcing
Source
for interesting startups and their contact information. Once approved
by the management, interns are able to meet with shortlisted startups to
hear them pitch. Investment report is then crafted. Interns will also
be responsible for follow-up communications with startups and assist
with research and due diligence.
Research
Analyze
market trends, needs and structure. Identify emerging opportunities
and/or underserved markets. Interns are encouraged to build their own
network and proactively utilize resources to bring in enticing
investment opportunities.
Pre-Screening
Evaluate
business model, existing operational flow and marketing systems. Scope
also includes financial analysis and industry competitive assessment.
Investment Reporting
Prepare
investment report for management review, complete with investment
thesis and analysis. Startups exhibiting strong potential in their field
of expertise and matching the firm’s investment criteria will have a
presentation set up with the board.
Final Due Diligence
Prepare
and issue term sheet after the startup passes board’s evaluation.
Assess relevant material contracts, financials, and intellectual
property before disbursement of funds.
Breaking New Ground
To
fuel expansion of our portfolio companies, new business development
plans and initiatives are spearheaded to bring about stronger marketing
presence in the region and targets increased profitability.
- Planning & Strategy
Understand
the fundamental drivers of the businesses, and the business of their
customers, partners and competitors. Identify and assess potential
opportunities to create tactical business strategy. Shape marketing
strategy of new approaches and campaigns.
- Business Development
Conduct
market research and actively identify prospective businesses to uncover
their unmet needs. Design effective communication strategies for target
markets. Professionally represent companies to potential clients
through face-to-face meetings, networking and sales calls.
- Relationship Management
Who we look out for
- Year 3 undergraduates majoring in Business Management or Finance with a passion for entrepreneurship
- Motivated self-starter with strong communication and people skills
- Out of the box thinker able to bring new perspectives to the table with innovative problem solving methods
- Interest of background in ICT/technology
- Candidates with strong entrepreneurial drive and motivation
- Experience in Startups
Interns with strong potential and outstanding analytical skills will be considered for permanent roles with the firm.
