Job Description
  • Operates under the guidance and recommendations of the Sous Chef to ensure that the team delivers great food
  • Enjoy creating a lively and friendly working environment and maintaining positive working relationships with other departments.
  • Takes care of daily food preparation and duties assigned by the Sous Chef.
  • Coordinate daily tasks with the Sous Chef to ensure the kitchen and service run like clockwork.
  • Estimate the daily food requirements and checks the quality of raw and cooked food products.
  • Ensure that the production, preparation, and presentation of food are in line with the agreed presentation.
  • Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction, quality, operating, and food costs on an ongoing basis.
  • Have solid knowledge of all standard procedures and policies concerning food preparation, deliveries, storage, and hygiene.
  • Full awareness of all menu items, recipes, methods of production, and presentation standards.
  • Follow good preservation standards for the proper handling of all food products at the right temperature.
  • Take ownership for using equipment correctly and reporting any issues appropriately.
  • Take personal responsibility for hygiene, safety, and correct use of equipment and utensils and supports the rest of the team to do the same.
  • Maintain best practices with regards to expiry dates and storage of food items.
  • Set an example to others for personal hygiene and cleanliness on and off duty.
  • Takes an active role in providing feedback and reporting of issues as they arise.
  • Prepare ingredients that should be frequently available (vegetables, spices, etc.)
  • Puts effort in optimizing the cooking process with attention to speed and quality.
  • Can carry out any other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Mature, responsible, self-driven with a positive attitude
  • Able to work in a fast pace environment
  • Training will be provided for non-experienced candidates
  • Have a passion to keep learning and innovate
  • Must be prepared to work on shift roster (weekends and public holidays)
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
