Company Profile

Canalys offers the reactivity and dynamism of a much smaller company with the global coverage and local insight gained from offices in America, Europe and Asia. Experts in their fields, our analysts combine market knowledge and approachability to create tailored customer deliverables.

Our dedicated mobility services span smart phones, tablets, notebooks, netbooks, security and app stores. First to incorporate netbooks and tablets into PC market tracking, we also offer the most thorough smart phone data – tracking shipments into the channel, not sales or activations.

Within the IT infrastructure sector, our services encompass data centers, networking, security, unified communications, client PC markets and go-to-market strategies. Regardless of the customer segment, we maintain an unrivalled focus on technology distribution channels.

Each of our services benefits from the same strict methodology, with clear, global definitions and detailed, country-level data, all published on the same day with no preliminary data or forecasts. We are transparent about our facts and always happy to give more details about our findings. All Canalys customers – wherever they sit in an organization – have access to our research in their respective service areas.

Job Description

Canalys is looking for a Research Associate Intern to help support its fast-growing and highly respected worldwide market intelligence services, focusing on mobility.

The Research Associate Intern will work in an experienced global team analyzing technology and routes-to-market trends across various enterprise and consumer IT sectors, including smart phones, tablet, PCs, wearables and other connected technologies, such as cars.

The main duties will include face-to-face and desk research on these areas and analysis for quarterly market data, forecasts, written reports and presentations, as well as answering client inquiries. The candidate is expected to write short opinion-led reports about key market trends and events. The candidate may also need to attend vendor briefings, meetings, trade shows and conferences, which may include foreign travel. The role will be based in our Singapore office.

Desired skills and experience

The candidate may be final year student, preferably with interest in the IT and telecoms, market research or an area that uses a similar skill set. Candidates should:

  • Show a strong aptitude for technology. Be apprised of current market trends and have a demonstrable interest and understanding of future direction and influences.

  • Show initiative and contribute and promote their own ideas and opinions, as well as being very capable of working within a global virtual team environment.

  • Be confident and comfortable communicating with senior clients over the telephone, face-to-face and in writing.

  • Possess excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Knowledge of Access would be an advantage.

  • Have strong English language verbal and written skills. Fluency in another language would be an advantage.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of our company values of accountability, quality, passion, care, being flexible and thinking globally.

The successful applicant will join a global, fast-growing and successful company with a relaxed, but hardworking and client-focused culture. We create a platform for innovation and offer an opportunity to become influential in the market. We operate a close-knit working environment, where everyone is treated with respect.
