Dulwich College (Singapore) is recruiting a Swimming Coach to join its swimming team to teach swimming and other aquatic sports as part of the Physical Education curriculum to pupils of all levels, ages and ability. This is a term-time role.
The duties and responsibilities of the role are:
- To deliver the highest standard swimming lessons and swim coaching sessions for the students at Dulwich College (Singapore), with a particular emphasis on the Learn-to-swim programme.
- To ensure the swimming at the College continues to move from Good to Great.
- To conduct swimming lessons and provide coaching to students across the College, from Learn-to-Swim to Competitive Squad swimmers.
- To plan, perform and evaluate swimming programmes for the College, ensuring all sessions continue to improve the swimming ability for all the students being taught.
- To work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- To assist in the planning, organising and delivery of all extra-curricular swimming sessions, swimming team events, competitions, galas, weekend swimming sessions, and other swimming-related activities.
- To keep up to date with new swimming rules and regulations, and other professional swimming developments.
- To conduct evaluations, assessments, reports on pupils’ progress.
- To prepare swimming teams for participation in FOBISIA, ACSIS and other local and International Swim Meets.
- To manage pool resources and liaise with the Head of Swimming to ensure all safety measures are adhered to, including keeping up to date with relevant first aid and life guarding in swimming.
- To ensure the pool area and pool resources are kept neat and tidy and offer a safe work environment.
- To undertake all other duties that commensurate with the role.
The successful candidate will:
- Be a qualified swim coach/teacher and registered through the appropriate National Governing Boady (NROC here in Singapore).
- Be qualified as an ASA Teacher to ASA Level 3, or have ASA Level 2 and be prepared to work towards Level 3; OR
Hold Swim Australia’s Teacher of Competitive Swimming Award and
Swim Australia Bronze Coach Award, and be willing to work towards
the Silver Coach Award, or equivalent, OR
- Be willing to work towards the qualifications above, or equivalent.
- Have demonstrable experience of teaching all levels of swimming, and experience in a coaching capacity with age group and youth-level swimmers.
- Have experience teaching a ‘learn to swim’ programme.
- Have experience working in a school setting would be an advantage.
- Ability to be innovative in creating and delivering swimming and teaching programmes.
- Ability to build positive rapport with students and work effectively with them.
- Have an understanding of exercise physiology.
- Have energy, drive and enthusiasm in working with colleagues and students.
- Be a team player with good communication skills who is also able to work autonomously with little supervision.
- Have a proactive and flexible approach to undertaking the duties of the role.
- Have a passion for swimming and teaching/coaching children.
- Have suitable swimming first aid qualifications for swimming and a commitment to keep up to date with current swimming qualifications.
