EDF is a global leader in low-carbon energy. Headquartered in Paris, with €71.2 billion in revenues in 2016, EDF operates a diverse portfolio of 120+ gigawatts of generation capacity in Europe, South America, North America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. EDF is active in developing off-grid/on-grid electrification solutions in international emerging markets. In 2019, EDF is already operating 27 off-grid microgrids in Guyana, Martinique, Corsica and etc. The aim is to expand this expertise in emerging markets to not only create new business but also improve the living standard of local inhabitants.
In Singapore, the R&D branch of EDF Group, strong of 2000 researchers, has launched EDF Lab Singapore in 2014 to develop and explore innovative solutions in the fields of smart grids, e-mobility and smart cities. Working with the Singaporean government agencies and local universities (NUS, SUTD, SIT, ESSEC), EDF Lab Singapore is rooting a strong expertise adapted to the Singaporean and South East Asian context. In 2018 as part of NTU’s offshore microgrid testbed known as REIDS (Renewable Energy Integration Demonstrator Singapore), EDF inaugurated in 2018 the MASERA microgrid demonstration (Microgrid for Affordable and Sustainable Electricity in Remote Areas).
What You'll Do
- Study power sector, energy policy, production potential, microgrid market in emerging markets
- Assess energy demand of villages/clusters in rural areas and estimate the consumption growth projection until 2030
- Build typical load curves for different customers in specific context
- Develop load curve generator based on mathematical models and real context information
- Support EDF rural electrification business strategy and business development in SEA
- Technical and economic analysis of microgrid/smart grid technologies
What You Need
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or Engineering
- Familiar with energy field: renewable energy; demand analysis and forecast; economics; sustainability
- Good understanding of statistical methods
- Strong analytical and visualisation skills (Python, R or else)
- Strong multitasking abilities, service-oriented personality, intellectual curiosity and an investigative mind
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Eager to evolve in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment
