Job Description

FireForge is looking for Web Game Developers to join our team and help grow our company.


Web Game Development in FireForge is a new department envisioned to spearhead our move into the gamification industry. This role will be responsible for the development & maintenance of our inaugural game system developed for the web. You will architect & implement various subsystems integral to the game. You will work closely with our game publishing platform development team based in Boston, Massachusetts and with our game design & development team based in Mission Viejo, California. You will acquire world-standard hands-on experience and knowledge about many of the skills and procedures that make up the development cycle of online games.

Roles & Responsibilities – What Will I Be Doing?


As a FireForge Developer, specializing in both web development & games development, you are required to be technically brilliant, be creative, be organised, have a good attitude and possess professional work ethics.

You will be required to:


Primary Role: Game-Related Web Development


• Work with a game designer or clients to implement a web-based game or gamified system. You will architect & advocate a system that is robust & extensible.
• Work with a graphics designer or UI designer to code interface design and influence usability. You will advocate for best practices, great usability and exceptional quality on our web user interfaces.
• Create clean, standards-compliant, accessible maintainable code using primarily XHTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and AJAX.
• Ensure the compatibility of the game with a wide variety of most commonly used browsers & browser versions.
• Work with the Analytics team to develop game-related measurement metrics.
• Have a strong attention to detail and a feeling of pride and ownership over the quality of the product.
• Work with our platform developers to implement & integrate the publishing platform with the front-end game system.

Secondary Role: Non-Game-Related Web Development


• Work with other web developers to create product website systems for each of the games developed by FireForge.
• Ensure the compatibility of all of FireForge’s web presence with a wide variety of devices such as mobile, desktop and other HTML5 browsers.
• Contribute to the design, development and implementation of web apps for mobile devices.
• Work with the Localisation team to translate webpages into regionalised languages to reach to a worldwide customer base.
• Perform web security activities and participate in security planning.


Requirements – What Skills Do I Need?


Basic


• Degree or Diploma preferred.
• Good experience with designing web-based user interfaces.
• Good experience of Web Development technologies – e.g. HTML, XML, xHTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax.
• Good experience with LAMP stack.
• Experience with game development & the game development process.
• Experience with a JavaScript framework (jQuery a plus).
• Experience with a server-side web framework (JSP, Rails, etc).
• Proficiency with Fireworks, Photoshop or related tools.
• Understanding of Object Oriented Programming in MVC/PAC framework.
• Ability to work across timezones.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
