Company Profile

Swapie runs two tech software products: (1) swapie.co, a fintech platform that maximizes cashback, (2) gifting.sg, a social-good gift-raising, instead of a fund-raising, a platform that involves consumers, businesses, and charities. We also provide digital consultation services to selected clients.

Our culture: We are borderline crazy, rule-benders (not breakers), and we press on unless we’re dead, in comatose, or both. We never ever give two hoots to peoples’ gossips about us so if these matter to you, look elsewhere now. We also firmly believe that output speaks more than input. It is not the number of hours we put in, but the quality of the work we all bring to the table that matters and we do have high standards for those.

Job Description

About The Role

The role reports dually to the CEO and CTO, sitting at the intersection of marketing and technology. Candidates are expected to be holistic all-rounders or at least an expert with demonstrated experience in either one area, such as a marketing major with basic front-end programming knowledge. You can expect to be tutored in the area you are less familiar in while honing your skills to deliver top-of-the-class work in the other, but to successfully achieve this with us we believe you need to work very hard and be very hungry.

Job Description

Front-End Programming/Product Development

  • Develop and implement UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application
  • Work with reusable code and front-end libraries and potentially build and refresh new ones for future use & scalability
  • Develop mobile responsive UI/UX using CSS/jQuery/Bootstrap/other frameworks
  • Build validated user input to submit to back-end, interacting with HTTPS & APIs
  • Collaborate with other developers for continuous development and deployment (Git)
  • Document troubleshooting methodology and resolution steps

Job Requirements

Compulsory cultural traits:

  • Prioritising executing over planning, a bias for action/actionable
  • ‘Over-communicator’ – which means you are always 120% clear due to concise and unambiguous communication methods, especially in remote settings these days
  • High resourcefulness, learn fast and in a nonlinear way, resilient, demonstrated ability to make magic happen out of thin air
  • Strong, or even life-defining unwillingness to remain an ordinary person
  • Unfazed in the face of a fast-moving and unforgiving business climate, at the same time always ready to lend support to teammates

Technical skills:

  • Most technical skills can be deciphered from the job description above – but to list them: WordPress.org, Wix
  • Our tech stack is predominantly JavaScript running on AWS infrastructure, with GitHub and Trello for product management. Front-end: React, Angular; Back-end: ExpressJS, Python; Database: PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL.
  • Must-know for programming: JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, responsive design, ReactJS. Need to be familiar with: jQuery, Bootstrap, AngularJS, any prototyping tool.
  • Good to have (our secondary product): Laravel, PHP, FTP file sharing
  • Prior working experience in a tech startup and/or similar role is a very strong advantage, even better if you can prove that you are an Olympic wearer of many hats
