The job holder will manage clients’ insurance requirements in accordance with the relevant Company and/or Group policies to achieve targets, develop the business and deliver an excellent and comprehensive service.
As an Intern many of the competencies highlighted below will be developed during your time with Howden. The purpose of this Internship is to find an individual who Is keen to develop skills in the Insurance Industry with the opportunity to have a full-time job at the end of the Internship.
The role will revolve around supporting the Broking/Account team in all aspects of administrative service. As an intern you will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of all aspects of the Southeast Asian Energy Industry. Whilst the role will revolve around administrative jobs to start there will be exposure to clients with the aim of building a long-term future at Howden in the Energy Industry.
Key Accountabilities/Core Competence Indicators:
Pre Renewal Preparation / Service
- Follow-up on emails from brokers and colleagues requesting for renewal information
- Verification that all information received from clients is in order
- Preparation of renewal information package for brokers
- Maintain broking files and documents (physical and electronic files, emails, etc.)
- Preparation of Slips / Cover Notes for brokers to verify
- Maintain marketing and placement sheets
- Work with brokers on signed lines to achieve contract certainty
Post Renewal Preparation / Service
- Finalise slips which will be sent to the Reinsurers
- Cover Notes prepared for all confirmed contracts
- Monitor the return of all counter-signed Reinsurer and Reinsured signing pages
- Prepare brokerage reports for brokers to check and confirm
- Prepare Endorsements and Addendums when required
- To inform the Technical Accounts Division once contracts are ready for invoicing (Brokers to second-check Invoices and confirm to Technical Accounts Division)
- To maintain proper records for all Special Acceptances
- To assist brokers in preparation of any reports required by them or management
Generic Knowledge and Skills Required
- Have a keen eye for details and accuracy
- Able to draft Slips / Cover Notes
- Possess knowledge on Contract wordings and market norms / requirements
- Able to work independently and in a team
- Works with professionalism and business etiquette
- Good skills with individual application in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Able to work under pressure with efficient time management
Suppliers/Markets
- Maintain an appropriate group of preferred markets in each area of activity
- Opportunity to develop strong relationships with markets
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Company and/or Group policies and procedures
- Ensure correct authorization is obtained and processes followed when required by the Company and/or Group policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure that performance, HR and T&C records are up to date and meet the Company and/or Group’s requirements
- Maintain accurate records and deal with correspondence appropriately
Reporting
- Provide relevant management information to senior management
Representing the Company
