Illumino – Strategy and Operations Intern

Strategy and Operations Intern (Part-time; NSFs and Pre-uni preferred)

The Role:

We need a few Strategy and Operations Associates (intern / part-timer) to help the founders to offload some of the tasks in these two verticals and grow the startup together. Prior experience is not needed, the founders will expose you to the operations of a lean start-up. You will work with fellow associates and the founders in creating and executing business roadmaps, as well as manage start-up operations. Your key responsibilities include:

1. Strategy:

• Work alongside founders to scope, specify, delineate success metrics, design and test our minimum viable products (MVP) for new business verticals

• Conduct market research on trends, data points, opportunities in the market, derive insights from analysis, and propose strategies for research

• Create realistic user stories based on problems faced and analyse existing data and website user trends to identify user preferences for research

• Execute strategies and spearhead new initiatives from research done

• Work on pitch materials (slide decks, market research, grant research…)

2. Operations:

• Manage platform operations from receiving applications, designing profiles, listing profiles on marketplace, and tracking profile transactions

• Monitor and handle customer enquiries and provide solutions to customers via email

• Provide suggestions to product team to improve user experience

• Provide suggestions to internal team to improve e-commerce operations processes

• Define and develop operational setups for new business verticals

• Create surveys and analyse results to determine business improvements

Our Ideal Candidate:

• Available for part-time arrangement of 16 hours a week, flexible arrangement of hours

• Able to commit at least 3 months, preferably 6 months and above

• Remote, work from home arrangement

• Passion with startups and addressing educational inequality

• Prior experience is not needed, but experience in marketing and e-commerce is good

• Pre-Uni A-Levels / Poly candidates preferred

• Display a variety of these traits:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Intrinsically motivated, a self starter, and passionate about education and combating educational inequality

  • Ability to conduct desktop research and synthesize insights

  • Can multi-task well, results driven, and customer-focused attitude

  • Ability to bring structure and systematize ambiguous scenarios without input and derive solutions to meet business needs

  • A creative and passionate individual that can identify user needs, think and execute new business strategies and verticals
