InSchool is a social enterprise that provides integrated student care, support, and growth for 7 to 12 year-old students with special educational needs (SEN). We provide our students with the necessary tailored assistance for their healthy personal growth through a meaningful approach, and with a focus on integrating them into mainstream society that is steered towards building an inclusive future.
We are seeking a driven, talented and dedicated teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with SEN students and will be committed to creating a supportive learning environment as we continue to make meaningful impact to society and build an inclusive future.
You will be involved in the end-to-end execution of your teaching work and experience how your effort is positively changing and impacting the lives of families and children with disabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Handle screening and assessment of potential students.
- Create meaningful individual education plans for students based on their assessment.
- Develop, implement, and review overall curriculum and lesson plans.
- Conduct every session’s content based on the lesson plans provided.
- Track students’ progress, performance and behaviour and align with their IEPs.
- Adjust the curriculum, lesson plan content and teaching methods/strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with team members, parents and therapists to support students’ success.
- Build an inclusive and positive classroom environment that fosters student growth and development.
- Keep up to date with best practices in the special needs education space and take up professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
- Has a minimum 1 year of working experience within a SPED school and worked with children with special educational needs and various disabilities, including but not limited to autism, intellectual disabilities.
- Having a specialist diploma or degree in a relevant or related field or valid teaching certification in Special Education is good but optional.
- Has some understanding of the special education laws and regulations.
- Is strong in communicating, collaborating and building relationships with students, parents and team members.
- Has good patience, empathy and desire to help students achieve their potential.
- Takes the initiative, can be independent, and positively influences your team.
- Is resourceful, result-driven, can problem-solve, flexible and adaptable to the changing educational environment.
- Likes to learn and is able to learn on the job.
