About It Takes Balls

Fashion powered by the Maker Revolution. No sweatshops. No mass-produced. Knit by hand, not machines.

Adeline Loo is the founder of It Takes Balls, which seeks to challenge and redefine the traditional notions of knitting and domestic crafts.

Adeline is drawn to personal experiences and stories, and seeks to create works which are immersive and textural. Working mainly with upcycled yarn, waste textiles and other industrial detritus, she creates site specific structures and installations.

Loo believes in being socially responsible as an artist and seeks more sustainable ways to create fashion and art. She is currently exploring sculptural processes with knitting and weaving techniques and experimenting with a variety of new materials, such as glow in the dark and reflective materials, to create work that transform with different lighting states

When not crafting, she can be found in Neil Gaiman’s world. She is well liked by most cats.

Job Description

Hi InternSG Community,

We're looking for an assistant to join our artist with an upcoming project for an outdoor installation at the Marina Bay Area.

This role is very hands on as you're be working alongside her in building the pieces using basic fabrication tools eg staple guns, hammers & nails (no prior woodworking, carpentry or machine skills needed).

The role is physically demanding and long in the process - the workshop venue is not airconditioned. However, you’ll also learn a new skillset, acquire production setup knowledge and get to be part of a meaningful creative process!

Applicants should be aware they will be in a workshop / factory setting. It will be dusty! Theres no aircon and when we move to on-site installation, it will be outdoors and unsheltered location. It would be preferable for applicants to be able to handle tools such as hammers and nails, and be okay with loud carpentry noises.

Requirement - need to commit to the timeline as posted

Cheers,

Wendy
