Job Description

About the role

The Design Intern is responsible for providing design support to the editorial and marketing departments through various channels. The Design intern will report to the Design Lead and work within the design team primarily in the areas of graphic design, content design, collateral design, research, and other related tasks as required.

Job scope

The Design Intern’s primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the content planning, execution and distribution of various Kontinentalist products, including client work, articles, social media posts, newsletter and events.
  • Develop various visual assets, including illustrations, infographics, data visualisations, motion graphics, photographs, and videos
  • Other projects as assigned, including design-related research and events

What we’re looking for

  • Skilled in graphic design, layout design, and illustration for both print and digital formats
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles
  • Proficient in basic design programs including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe
  • Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe After Effects
  • Basic knowledge in Figma, a UI/UX prototyping tool
  • Excellent communication skills and administrative skills
  • Ability to work and learn independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames
  • Organised, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Team player
  • Quick learner and efficient
  • Able to work under pressure

Other skills that are not a must, but good to have:

  • Knowledge of social media design guidelines, algorithms, and trends
  • Writing and proofing skills
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript
