Mediterranean Shipping Company South East Asia (Singapore) Pte Ltd – Accounting Manager

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Finance Manager, your main responsibility is to lead the functions of Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivables and ensure timely and accurate day-to-day transactional accounting.

Your key responsibilities include the following:

• Ensure timely and accurate day-to-day transactional accounting for Payables and Receivables functions, cash flow management, budget control and financial reporting;
• Perform inter-company reconciliations with MSC Agents’ Finance team and Geneva (GVA) Finance team;
• Work closely with internal / external auditors and local authorities to resolve any local accounting or tax related issues raised;
• Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations;
• Ensure proper audit trails for accounting records in accordance to statutory requirements;
• Ensure internal control accounting policies and processes are adhered to and in compliance with Company policies and SFRS / IFRS;
• Develop and maintain the Credit Management Policy;
• Process credit evaluations and minimize credit days and overdue;
• Work closely with relevant stakeholders to drive improvements and resolutions in end-to-end payables, receivables and credit control processes;
• Partner with internal Head of Departments (HODs) to ensure timely and accurate monthly local analysis and reporting;
• Provide strategic local financial input to Management to support key decision making as required;
• Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop team members on their daily work performance to ensure Department objectives are met;
• Serve as a coach/ mentor and provide technical financial advice and knowledge to direct reports and team members;
• Identify and initiate improvement areas and develop good accounting control procedures and best practices to enhance overall accounting operations, work quality and efficiency;
• Support Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Senior Finance Manager, Singapore, in new initiatives or projects as and when required.

Qualifications

• Min Degree in Accountancy / Finance, ACCA or equivalent;
• Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in maintaining and executing accounting controls and reporting at country level;
• Past experience from any Big 4 audit firm preferred, though not a pre-requisite;
• Experienced in managing changes and thrive in dealing with challenging business environment;
• Good knowledge of IFRS and SFRS accounting standards;
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint;
• Experienced in using Cognos, SAP financial system and related data flow;
• High level of Integrity and Ethics;
• Team Player;
• People Management qualities with the ability to lead, develop and drive performance of direct reports;
• Organised;
• Meticulous with an eye for details;
• Problem Solving / Analytical skills;

Strong Communication and Presentation skills, including good English language skills, both written and verbal.
