Job Description

As Senior Accounts Executive, Financial Reporting and Controls, you will be responsible for the financial reports and management reporting for Singapore, as well as maintaining and executing financial controls in compliance with Company policies, Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Reports to Financial Reporting and Controls Manager, in this position, you will have opportunities to acquire skills and knowledge in the following areas:

Reporting

  • Support Financial Reporting and Controls Manager to ensure day-to-day posting of GL journals are executed in a timely and accurate manner, as well as perform related monthly management reporting;
  • Responsible for timely and accurate local analysis and reporting including:
  • Monthly, Quarterly and Annual SAP Financial Consolidation (FC) reporting of financials to SG Management and HQ;
  • Monthly Balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Yearly Budgets and Forecasts.
  • Assist on Agency KPI Report for HQ;
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation and accounts schedule as well as ensure that suspense/clearing accounts are cleared timely;
  • Evaluate report findings, present reporting deviations and assist Financial Reporting and Controls Manager/Senior Finance Manager in making recommendations to Senior Management on financial implications of proposed investments and/or transactions.

Banking & Treasury matters 

  • Responsible for timely and accurate submission of weekly (rolling 4-weeks) Cashflow Forecast Report;
  • Handle / provide support in banking & treasury matters by liaising with bankers;
  • Maintain foreign exchange rate table and preparation of the foreign exchange analysis report.

Audit and Compliance

  • Deal with external/ internal auditor and ensure internal control accounting policies and processes are adhered to and in compliance with Company policies and SFRS / IFRS;
  • Ensure proper audit trails for accounting records according to statutory requirements;
  • Maintain relations with external/ internal auditors, investigate their findings and implement recommendations.

Tax Matters (ie Corporate Tax / GST / Transfer Pricing)

  • Prepare/review monthly tax and deferred tax computation and assist in providing tax schedules to tax agents for the preparation of annual tax return and tax queries;
  • Prepare/review quarterly Goods & Services Tax ("GST") working and reconciliation for filing of GST Form 5 to IRAS;
  • Deal with tax agent and local authorities and ensure all tax filings and any other legal filing as required by local laws and regulations are performed accurately and timely;
  • Assist in preparation of transfer pricing documentation;
  • Resolve any tax related issues raised by tax authorities/tax agent/tax consultants.

Corporate Secretarial matter

  • Handle / provide support in Singapore Corporate Secretariat matters by liaising with our appointed Corporate Secretary and/ or relevant local/ overseas parties.

Internal Controls, Process Improvements and Others 

  • Identify and initiate improvement areas and develop good accounting, control procedures and best practices to enhance overall accounting operations, work quality and efficiency;
  • Identify processes to be streamlined and automated with the aim of increased productivity;
  • Lead / support Department in new initiatives or projects as and when required.

Qualifications

Who We Are Looking For

  • Min Degree in Accountancy / Finance, ACCA or professional accounting qualification equivalent;
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in maintaining and executing accounting controls, reporting and process improvements;
  • Past experience from any Big 4 audit firm preferred, though not a pre-requisite;
  • Preferably from shipping industry;
  • Experienced in managing changes and thrive in dealing with challenging business environment;
  • Good knowledge of IFRS and SFRS accounting standards;
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint;
  • Experienced in using FC, SAP financial system and related data flow;
  • Team player with the ability to lead, develop and drive performance of direct reports;
  • Focused on the end-results, constantly striving to deliver outstanding performance;
  • High level of Integrity and Ethics;
  • Organised and meticulous with an eye for details;
  • Ability to manage time well to meet tight deadlines and multi-task;
  • Able to work under stress and adaptable to changes;
  • Problem Solving / Analytical skills;
  • Strong Communication and Presentation skills;
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.
