About the Milken Institute and the Singapore Internship Program
The Milken Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank determined to increase global prosperity by advancing collaborative solutions that widen access to capital, create jobs and improve health. The Milken Institute Singapore Internship Program aims to cultivate the next generation of leaders who are equipped to tackle the issues that shape the global agenda as they enter the financial, investment, corporate, multilateral, or philanthropic sectors. We create a customized experience for each intern, which is tailored to their interest area and career trajectory as well as emphasizes their professional and personal development. Position: Intern, Communications
Location: Singapore, Central Business District
The Milken Institute Asia Center is looking for a Communications Intern to assist with its ongoing communications efforts, including media relations and social media. The intern would be involved with the organization of the 10th iteration of the flagship Milken Institute Asia Summit, which is scheduled to take place in Singapore in September 2023.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the full range of communications, and is ideal for candidates interested in pursuing a career in corporate communications or continuing their careers in the nonprofit industry.
Responsibilities can vary according to your experience and areas of interest.
Key Responsibilities
- Media monitoring, press release dissemination, updating of media lists, and following up with reporters for event & conference invites (virtual & in-person)
- Conducting desktop research on relevant topics to support the larger communication function
- Drafting content such as key takeaways, summaries, and minutes for conferences, meetings, and webinars
- Social media listening, reporting, monitoring, community management, and drafting of posts for social media channels
- Managing stakeholders including speakers, moderators, and media partners, making sure their priorities are met during key events and throughout the year
- Providing backend logistical support for online virtual events & offline in-person events
- Translation and copywriting (English & Chinese) of communications materials
Qualifications
- Graduate or undergraduate with a major in Communications, Marketing, Economics, International Relations or a related subject. Bachelor’s or Master’s graduate is preferred.
- Strong writing and communication skills (English & Chinese)
- Detail-oriented
- Interest and curiosity in the issues shaping the global agenda such as capital market reform, technology and innovation, geopolitics, economics, etc.
- (preferred) Basic graphic design, photoshops, social media channel management skills
- Singaporean national is preferred
Internship Duration
We offer a 4 to 12-month internship with flexibility on the dates. Ideally, the intern would be able to stay through completion of the Asia Summit at the end of September 2023, and priority will be given to a candidate who can commit until then. This internship is full-time (40 hours weekly). In the event of COVID-19 restrictions, we expect interns to be able to work fully remotely as needed, and join team meetings and other calls virtually.
