Job Description

As a Chef Intern at Nurasa, you will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the intersection of culinary, food technology and nutrition. This internship is designed for individuals passionate and want to pursue a career in the food industry developing healthier food options through the application of innovative ingredients and technology advancements. Successful candidates will be exposed breath-wise across different business function.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  1. Work in menu design, food preparation, cooking, and plating.
  1. Willingness to explore new and novel ingredients and adapt into sustainable nutritious menu from beverages, appetisers, starters, mains & desserts.
  1. Learn various cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
  1. Help maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with food safety hygiene standards.
  1. Support inventory management, including receiving and storing ingredients.
  1. Participate in menu planning and recipe development, testing, and special event preparations.
  1. Collaborate with team members during events and meal service to ensure smooth operations.
  1. Be open to feedback and actively seek opportunities for skill improvement.
  1. Pilot Plant Support, be exposed to food processing equipment e.g. extrusion, high pressure pasteurization and other processing equipment.

Acedemic Requirements: 

Diploma/bachelor’s in food, Nutrition & Culinary Science, Culinary & Catering Management, Food Science & Technology, Food Science & Nutrition, Food & Beverage Business, Food Business Management and any other relevant field

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating.
  • Ability to contribute to menu planning and create innovative recipes.
  • Knowledge of proper kitchen sanitation practices and food safety regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with kitchen staff and support team members during events.
  • Willingness to experiment with novel ingredients and adopt sustainable practices.
  • Ability to manage responsibilities under pressure during special events and meal services.
