Safran Electronics & Defense Services Asia Pte Ltd (SEDSA) is the leading repair and overhaul shop for avionics and electrical components, and Safran Group’s first avionics Centre of Excellence in the Asia Pacific.
Our main business segments are in the repair and overhaul of Safran Group OEM avionics and repair of third-party OEM avionics such as Honeywell, Thales, Rockwell Collins and BAE Systems. We are also the Authorized Repair Station for Airbus Avionics, L-3 Comm and Saft Batteries. Our 6,000 Sqm facility is equipped with multiple automatic test benches such as 4 ATEC Serie6, 1 ATEC 5000, ATS182, ITS700 and AVTRON. It is designed for expansion of capabilities to handle next-generation aircraft such as Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350.
Our customer base includes 85 airline customers with approvals by various airworthiness authorities including Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC), Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia (DCA Malaysia) and Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).
With more than 3,000 repair and overhaul capabilities covering most Airbus (including A380 and A350), Boeing (including 787 Dreamliner) and ATR 42/72 aircraft types, we provide comprehensive solutions for airlines and aftermarket fleet management solution providers.
What can you expect from the Internship?
The Engineering Intern will report to the Senior Manager for Technology & Innovation, and will assist other Support Engineers in providing on-site maintenance and support for ad-hoc projects. This includes providing prime solutions technical support to the various Business Units and Repair Workshops.
In addition, the Intern will be integrated in the team of Support Engineers and could perform assisting roles, depending on the workload and business development, in the following:
- New repair capability building process with engineering studies: justification, feasibility, cost vs benefit, Technical Publication analysis, etc.
- Help to specify, develop, integrate and validate chosen solutions.
- Assist the Engineer in charge, monitor the progress of the tasks, take part in projects’ milestones reviews, report advancement, track investments and expenses, monitor contractors and suppliers, initiate maintenance plans.
- Once the solution is launched, the Intern will take an active role into sourcing for materials and equipment, request for quotations, and manage suppliers and contractors in France, Singapore and others.
- Be a prevalent force in the Integration and Validation campaigns, Commissioning, First Article Inspections.
- Draft self-assessment documents, and other ENGINEERING procedures. Liaise efficiently with QUALITY, OPERATIONS and SUPPLY CHAIN.
- Update Definition File and Configuration Management. Take part in calibration procedures.
- Support existing repair capabilities by taking active part into resolving issues. Help trouble shooting of test fixtures, sourcing for material, suppliers, third parties or alternatives.
- Upon release of new revision of technical publication, analysis of new requirements impact on existing capability in term of test equipment, test software, toolings, consumables, documentation, maintenance process, etc.
- Perform analysis on the company fleet of test benches and gather up-to-date documentation like Operating Manuals and Maintenance Manuals. In case of missing documents, contact bench manufacturers and retrieve applicable information.
- Help on the Decap process with test benches and toolings decomissioning.
The Engineering Intern will also be exposed to:
- Reading, understanding and producing technical documentation.
- Continuous improvement and innovation initiatives in the company.
- Work with different stakeholders such as HQ, OEMs, Workshops, Operation, QA, Customers and Suppliers.
What do we need from you?
- You are a student or junior engineer in Aerospace, Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
- We are open to candidates with no experience as long as he/she demonstrate his/her motivation and is a match with our requirements.
- 0 to 3 years of experience could be an advantage.
- Proven track record of applicable projects could be helpful.
- Excellent communications skills. Pro-active, outspoken and capable of developing excellent relationships across multiple department and stakeholders.
- Task-oriented, analytical, eye for details while keeping in mind the big picture.
- A good team player.
- Proficient with Microsoft software applications.
- Ability to multi task in a dynamic environment.
