Job Description

Job Overview: 

As the Product Designer intern, you will learn to adopt business needs and design language to meet emerging fields in technology and given the opportunity to participate and contribute actively to R&D concepts and technology development. You will turn business insights into strategic design opportunities and creative design solutions, Ideate and develop products with a keen understanding of human factors and end user needs. You will use design tools to create novel customer experiences to meet changing business and market. We seek a proactive and responsive individual in delivering innovative design that supports the team and the business. The nature of your internship will focus on these areas: Product design research, concept development, brand strategy, design visualization.

 

  • Determine requirements for strategic design intent and perform research on design insights for technology solutions roadmap.
  • Create inspiring ways to create storyboarding and futuristic strategies to make corresponding connections to R&D initiatives that inspire new thinking.
  • Support SHARE at NTU team in the design process initiatives from problem definition to design implementation and support Communication & Branding with their creative design needs internally.
  • Use design/illustrator tools to develop virtual models of different designs and create illustrations that provide a better visual of novel technological design ideas.
  • Develop unique point of view about the ways in market research to help uncover and prioritize design needs for technology innovations.
  • Involve in design wireframing and working with product engineering team to ensure conceptual designs get implemented.
  • Create a visual persona for product user and what product represent to customers.
  • Conduct market research and usability function to gather and understand our users and customer habits and experiences via prototypes and testing of design ideas and products.

In addition to the duties listed above, the intern will have to carry out tasks assigned by his/her supervisor that are essentially related to his/her duties.

Our Ideal Candidate: 

  • Fresh or undergraduates (Diploma/Degree) in Industrial Design, Product Design or similar field.
  • Possess a design portfolio that includes creative excellence, storytelling, and technical design mastery.
  • Experience in solving problems by connecting consumer insights, design, socio-cultural and market trends.
  • Possess strong level of design influence and good presentation skills, good project management skills,
  • Able to conduct user research and usability studies to create user-centric products,
  • Able to generate unexpected creative work that is thoughtful in strategy and execution.
  • Flexible and agile approach in an environment of constant change with a passion for innovation.
  • Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes (e.g. blow-molding, injection molding, heat treatment, forging).
  • Hands-on experience in working with CAD systems (e.g. Alias, Rhino, SolidWorks, or FreeForm).
  • Well verse in using graphics software: Adobe CS (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat) or rendering software (e.g. KeyShot or Move).
  • Experience with animation tools (Flash, Premiere, Maya, etc.),
