Job Description

Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) have been around for some time, assisting factory owners with material handling within the shop floor. However, most of the available AMRs are based on differential drives that could not produce holonomic motions desired in congested shop floor.

The objective of this project is to design and build an innovative holonomic drivetrain system for AMR that is intuitive to drive and control. The project scope for the intern involves (i) research and innovate concept designs for AMR holonomic drivetrain system, (ii) working on the holonomic drivetrain system detail designs and integration onto AMR overall assembly in 3D CAD, and (iii) build & test holonomic drivetrain system prototype on AMR. The expected result for this project is to complete the design, build and test of the mentioned holonomic drivetrain system prototype, getting it ready for internal demonstrations.

Prerequisites:

  • Knowledge in functionality of mobile robots
  • Knowledge in mechanics and machine design calculations
  • Knowledge in 3D CAD software
  • Hands on attitude
  • Willingness to learn new things
