Singapore Art Museum opened in 1996 as the first art museum in Singapore. Also known as SAM, we present contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective for artists, art lovers and the art curious in multiple venues across the island, including in the historic port area of Tanjong Pagar.
SAM is building one of the world's most important public collections of Southeast Asian contemporary art, with the aim of connecting the art and the artists to the public and future generations through exhibitions and programmes. SAM is working towards a humane and sustainable future by committing to responsible practices within its processes.
SAM’s Partnerships and Patronage department oversees all aspects of fundraising for the museum to ensure financial sustainability.
As an intern, you will assist to plan and implement fundraising projects for SAM’s exhibitions and programmes. This includes researching prospective partners, developing campaign pitches for public and corporate stakeholders and creating project impact reports. You will also be involved in the planning and execution of SAM’s fundraising dinner in January 2026.
Intern Responsibilities
1. Assist in securing exhibition and programme funding while growing SAM’s database of partners
• Work closely with key SAM departments to collate exhibition or programme details and
• Assist to develop customised proposals to prospects
• Identify and cultivate prospects, including developing hosting opportunities that generate leads and grow relationships with existing and potential partners
• Develop compelling donation campaigns and source for opportunities to reach out to online donors
2. Research for Singapore Biennale 2025 Funding Opportunities
• Regular maintenance and updating of databases, donation portals and KYC reports
• Keep abreast of international and local art calendar and events, especially of latest developments, opportunities and deadlines with regard to arts fundraising
3. Assist in the planning and execution of SAM’s 30th Anniversary Fundraising Dinner
• Source for vendors who are able to provide F&B and event decorations etc.
• Ensure smooth setup and tear-down of event
• Keep track of administrative paperwork and financial documents
4. Assist the team's daily tasks, including:
• Maintain an updated and user-friendly donor database
• Prepare regular donor communications
• Support activities for donor cultivation and stewardship
• Other administrative work as required
Requirements
• Available to commit full-time (Monday to Friday) for 6 months, starting from May/June
• Keen passion in the arts, with a willingness to take on a range of tasks and responsibilities
• Good communication skills - both written and spoken
