The Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) develops high-value manufacturing technology and human capital to enhance the competitiveness of Singapore’s manufacturing industry. It collaborates with various multinational and local companies in the precision engineering, medtech, aerospace, automotive, marine, oil & gas, electronics, semiconductor, logistics, and other sectors.
Additive Technology Innovation Group (ATI) focuses on developing end-to end additive manufacturing (AM) solutions, with focus research areas such as feedstock processing, fusion-based, sinter-based and polymer AM processing, as well as post-processing technologies to produce metal, polymer, ceramic, composite and multi-material products with complex and precise geometries.
Project Title: 3D Printing of Ceramic Materials for Extreme Environment Applications
The project aims to revolutionize the manufacturing of ceramics and/or composites for use in extreme conditions, such as high-temperature environments, corrosive atmospheres, aerospace, and radiation-related applications. This project combines cutting-edge 3D printing technology with advanced ceramic materials to fabricate highly customized, durable, heat-resistant, and radiation-shielding components for industries where traditional manufacturing methods have proven inadequate.

Minimum internship duration is 16 weeks (during semester) or 12 weeks (during vacation), subject to university’s minimum internship duration requirements
Singaporean undergraduates (≥ 2nd yr) in computing and information science, engineering and technology, physical sciences, or biomedical/life/food sciences
On track to obtain at least a 2nd Upper Class Honours Degree or equivalent. CGPA Grades (i.e 4.0 out of 5.0)
Have strong interest in a research career
Have not previously been awarded an ARIA internship
