Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) – Intern for PLA Composite Study on its 4D Applications

Looking for 1-year full-time internship

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join our team for a 1-year internship. The primary responsibility of the intern will be conducting experimental work on the development and characterization of PLA composites for 4D printing applications. This hands-on role will involve material preparation, testing, and analysis of shape memory properties, contributing to cutting-edge research in 4D printing technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform experimental work on PLA composites, including preparation, processing, and mechanical testing.
• Analyze the shape memory behavior of materials and their suitability for 4D printing applications.
• Collaborate with researchers to integrate experimental findings into broader research initiatives.
• Document experimental results and prepare reports for research and publication purposes.

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience in materials testing, preferably in polymer composites.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in experimental procedures.
• Basic knowledge of shape memory polymers and 4D printing (preferred but not required).
• Ability to work independently in a laboratory setting and collaborate within a team.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest in additive manufacturing technologies and polymer composites.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment and techniques for materials characterization.

Duration and Location:

• Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)
