A major focus of the Asia Pacific Regional Office is to engage young people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities from across the region and empower them to promote social inclusion in their communities.
Job Description
Learning opportunities:
- Contribute to fostering inclusive societies through direct involvement with youth with and without intellectual disabilities from across Asia Pacific
- Develop skills in virtual resource development, event management and inter-cultural communication through interactions with international participants and stakeholders
- Hone grant administration and resource organisation skills
- Gain first-hand insights on the workings of an international non-profit organisation, from programme design and management to partnerships with external organisations
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including youths, athletes and staff, from across Asia Pacific and Headquarters (Washington DC)
- Monitor progress on grants for promotion of inclusive youth leadership in the region
- Support youth leaders to achieve goals of inclusion through their leadership roles
- Assist with the organisation and running of regional events and meetings
- Develop learning resources to promote the development of inclusive youth leadership in local communities
- All other tasks as assigned
- Overtime and work on weekends may be required for events
- Intern will be expected to work using their own computer/equipment
Required skills/traits:
- Interest in working with marginalised groups, youth and/or people with disabilities
- Eager to learn, collaborative and takes initiative
- International outlook and experience
- Demonstrated administrative skills
- Attention to detail and well-organised
- Familiarity with utilising technology to facilitate dialogue and improve work processes
- Solid experience with virtual event planning, learning resource development and social media engagement
- Strong verbal, written and inter-cultural communication skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox, Teams, Canva, Zoom and Smartsheet
