The Straits Times interactive graphics team is looking for a creative game designer/game developer intern to join our team in the newsroom. You would be working alongside journalists, developers, designers, and editors to create original digital content for our readers. If you have a passion for game design / game development, illustration, storytelling, journalism, and the craft of designing digital experiences, please apply to join our dynamic team. Some of the tasks you would be involved in:
Collaborate with the newsroom team to conceptualise and create engaging web-based games that align with current news topics and events.
Assist in designing game mechanics, user interfaces, and interactive storytelling elements to enhance reader engagement.
Develop web games using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant technologies to ensure compatibility across various platforms and devices.
Implement and test game features, animations, and user interactions for optimal performance.
Conduct user testing and gather feedback to iterate and improve game designs.
Work closely with the editorial team to integrate games seamlessly into news articles and features.
Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in game design, web development, and storytelling techniques to bring fresh and innovative ideas to the newsroom.
Collaborate with graphic designers and multimedia producers to create compelling visuals and animations for games.
Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate creative ideas for game concepts that align with current news coverage.
