The Uyir Publication is created to showcase brown voices in the fields of culture, arts, politics and commentary. With contributors ranging from Canada to the Caribbean, The Uyir Publication has showcased unique perspectives on topics that appeal to Generation Z while also maintaining an exploding social media presence online. We believe strongly in the art of personalised, authentic storytelling and using new media forms to get across our message of originality.
As our Section Editor for ‘Culture Vulture’, you operate as the backbone of The Uyir. Besides meeting editorial deadlines and objectives, we will also be looking to you to make suggestions to improve our content and editorial efforts. Your main goal is to help grow The Uyir through searchable and engaging content.
Responsibilities
• Research and write features for ‘Culture Vulture’ section for the theuyir.co
• Write and post updates on the magazine’s social media pages
• Assist in picture research and copy editing
• Conduct interviews for online features
Requirements
• A flair for the English language with meticulous grammar skills
• An interest in a range of brown diaspora issues, from social issues to political commentary
• A creative writer who is able to brainstorm story ideas
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn about editorial production
• Min. 'O' Level Diploma
• Knowledge of Asian languages i.e. Bahasa Melayu, Tamil preferred but not required.
