This position works with the Product design team with CAD systems SolidWorks. The incumbent will take directions from the Mechanical Engineering Manager with respect to priorities and assignments. The successful candidate will be an innovative thinker, fast-learner, collaborative worker, and self-starter with a passion for the renewable energy industry holding a track record of success thriving in a high growth environment. 

Job Description

Responsibilities: 

  • We are developing flow battery cell stack which requires the design of multiple mechanical components and performing structural analysis, load calculation, etc. The selected candidate will work on these areas 
  • You will be involved in various everyday activities such as the sourcing and procurement of different mechanical and electrical components and writing reports 
  • Deal with supplier capability 
  • Work with the injection moulding supplier on the plastic parts that are going to injection 
  • Overseas travel when needed 
  • Train, supervise, and assist Junior Designers and intern 
  • Work with test engineers to improve the cell stack design accordingly 
  • Ensure given tasks are completed within the given timeline Travelling to factories or other locations to take measurements and to observe the way productivity is carried out. 
  • Doing calculations on the prospective cell stack prior to completing the technical drawings. 
  • Creating prototypes, testing them, and analysing the results. 
  • Submitting drawings to relevant stakeholders as well as production and or purchasing. 
  • Providing support during the entire building process to ensure that the design specifications are met. 
  • Analyzing problems that may arise during the manufacturing process and recommending solutions. 

Requirements: 

  • Minimum bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or equivalent 
  • Minimum 2 years of factory plastic part design experience 
  • Proven ability to complete tasks given independently 
  • Fluent speaking and writing of both English & Mandarin
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Specific Knowledge:
    * Must be proficient in using Solidworks 3D design and software PDM
    * Have knowledge of metal and plastic materials
    * Must have a working knowledge of Solidworks drawing template
    * Good knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD & T)
    * Working experience in plastic mold and knowledge of plastic simulation
    * Knowledge in design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
    *BOM lists created
