Major Functions:

As the Volunteer Programme and Public Engagement Intern, you will be responsible for supporting the Volunteer Team in providing online and in person engagement to the public, community groups, schools, and support our citizen science programmes. Assist in identifying trends and insights, conduct or supervise market research to identify new opportunities to engage our audience.

Job Description

Volunteer Programme and Public Engagement Intern

Reports to: Head of Department

Duration: 6 months (Aug 24 to Dec 24 / Jan 25 to Jun 25)

Location: Singapore

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Programme
  • Support recruitment and selection of volunteers for the Cyber Spotter Programme (CS). This includes screening, shortlisting of volunteers and maintaining a database of volunteers.
  • Support the development of the CS programme. This includes managing complex project schedules, assisting in project training, conduct agreeance checks and data analysis.
  • Develop, or assist in supervising the development of learning and engagement content; support in managing external vendors and agencies to deliver high-quality content.
  • Assist in monitoring inquiries and responding to or escalating them as necessary.
  • Support project management, review of feedback, reports and proposals.
  • Maintain a volunteer database and prepare for their regular engagement.
  • Support and run the annual volunteer engagement sessions.
  • Draft and edit emails for various purposes, such as volunteer recruitment, event invitations and newsletters
  • Assist with social media management (WWF-Volunteer Telegram Account)

Public engagement

  • Assist with co-ordinating and eventually lead public engagement in nature areas,
  • Engage with other teams within WWF Singapore to develop engagement content, communications and outreach.
  • Conduct public talks on environmental issues for schools, corporates, etc.
  • Conduct literature review, data-base management and data mining from websites or documents from various sources
  • Develop resources and manage logistics for public outreach
  • Perform other related duties as needed to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the Education and Outreach team.

Requirements: 

  • Degree preferably in Education, Communications, Business, Environmental Science or related field. Individuals without a degree but extensive Volunteer management, and community engagement experience are welcome to apply.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely for a variety of audiences.
  • Has experience in project management, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Detail oriented and flexibility to work on other projects as needed
  • Interested in environmental and sustainability issues
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments
  • Knowledge on local biodiversity
  • Passionate about conservation and driving real impact

Candidates currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in marketing, communications, education, or any related field.

This is a full-time, paid internship with a duration of 6 months.
