Job Description

Y S CHUNG LAW CORPORATION, a boutique law firm in Singapore invites applications for Legal internships that may promise the confirmation of a permanent / contract opportunity. 

A) RELEVANT LEGAL TRAINEE (LLB HONS GRADUATE)

B) LEGAL INTERN (PROSPECTIVE LLB HONS CANDIDATE)

C) PRACTICE TRAINEES (QUALIFIED PERSONS)

D) ADMIN & DIGITAL BUSINESS MARKETING INTERNS (Legal Qualifications are a plus but not a requirement)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Trial Lawyers in Court where possible.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and be responsible for providing secretarial and administrative support to lawyers.
  • Scheduling of meetings/appointments, handling calls and answering requests, etc.
  • Filing of documents, preparation of meeting materials and documents for court hearings and service of documents.
  • Perform secretarial and general administrative duties including updating various records & replying to correspondence / mails / faxes / billings, etc.
  • Manage calendar schedules, meetings, conference calls and assist to record and monitor court hearing dates.
  • To support our core team in respect dispute resolution work including arbitration, court litigation and mediation.
  • Drafting of quotes & engagement papers, notes of client’s instructions, witness statements, pleadings, basic research, e-filing of court documents, compiling of litigation & arbitration papers, bundles, authorities & submissions.
  • Business development in Singapore, Asia, Europe and America;
  • General support of all aspects of dispute resolution work including co-ordinating client intake, reviewing medical records for personal injury cases, negotiating with insurers and the rendering of official translations.
  • As and when required to clean, stock and supply designated working areas, notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs, cooperate with the rest of the staff and follow all health and safety regulations.
  • Provide administrative support on day-to-day matters such as keying in daily time sheets and putting up payment vouchers for lawyers.
  • Any other matters/projects that the management may require assistance with from time to time.

Key Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate should:

  • A pleasant personality
  • have experience gained in a similar role within a professional services/law firm.
  • be competent to carry out simple administrative duties, including processing expenses, invoices and payments received, ensuring that the correct charge codes are used and follow up action taken where appropriate
  • good IT skills and be able to use Word, Outlook, - Powerpoint and Excel.
  • good command of English and Mandarin, with the ability to communicate and work well with Fee earners and Business Support staff
  • be familiar with court documents and processes and competent in e-filing in litigation
