Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

At YMCA of Singapore, the Youth Development Programmes department collaborates with our regional partners to reach out to communities in developing countries through impactful development projects in areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, sustainability, and education. Each year, more than 1,200 youths are empowered to become community champions through our diverse projects in the ASEAN countries.

The successful candidate will be expected to travel to these developing countries to ensure the smooth execution of projects, foster community involvement, and support the leadership growth of our youth participants.

As the Executive/Senior Executive, you will play a pivotal role in enabling youths to participate and contribute as community champions in these assigned development projects. This will involve project coordination, community engagement and leadership development that may involve direct and indirect engagement with vulnerable communities requiring sensitivity, professionalism and adherence to safeguarding guidelines.

This position entails working with diverse stakeholders, including vulnerable groups, to develop and implement programs that promote social impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and mentor youth volunteers to conceptualize, plan, and execute service-learning projects across various ASEAN countries, fostering leadership and community engagement.
  • Provide best practices, frameworks, and case studies to enable youth volunteer groups to deliver effective volunteering programmes.
  • Cultivate and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders including Youth Corps Singapore, institutions of higher learning (IHLs), and overseas community organizations to facilitate seamless collaboration and maximize the impact of our initiatives.
  • Design and facilitate training sessions and workshops for volunteers to enhance their skills, competencies, and preparation for their roles and responsibilities within the program.
  • Serve as the primary liaison point for volunteers, providing guidance, support, and resources to address inquiries and challenges throughout their volunteering journey.
  • Ensure that budgets, audit, recordkeeping, and funding guidelines are followed and maintained in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate logistics for volunteer trips, including flight arrangements, accommodation bookings, and transportation logistics, ensuring all arrangements align with trip requirements and budgetary constraints.
  • Ensuring adherence when collaborating with internal teams and external partners to safeguard protocols and ethical standards when working with vulnerable communities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in roles related to youth leadership, community development, or volunteer program management, ideally within an international or cross-cultural context.Passionate about community development with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by developing countries across the region. Familiarity with international development issues or grassroots initiatives is a plus.Experience is essential in youth leadership development, project management and financial management. Relevant certifications in teaching, coaching and/or facilitation would be a plus.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders across cultures and contexts.Demonstrated ability to think strategically, innovate, and adapt to changing priorities and environments.Able to work well with others in a deadline-driven team environment and negotiate win-win solutions with stakeholders.Calm, resourceful, and resilient in high-pressure situations, with the ability to work independently and maintain composure while problem-solving and handling multiple priorities.Willingness to travel internationally, including developing countries.
