The Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) movement was started in 1844 in London by Mr George Williams and a group of likeminded concerned Christians. It is one of the oldest and largest Movements for youth in the world and now operates in 119 countries, and reaching 58 million people. The YMCA works to bring social justice and peace to young people and their communities, regardless of religion, race, gender or culture.
Established in 1902, the YMCA of Singapore is a volunteer-based Christian organisation that seeks to serve and impact all members of the community, regardless of race, language or religion, through programmes, services and enterprises to develop the body, mind and spirit.
Community Engagement and Partnerships Department
You will be working with the energetic Community Engagement and Partnerships (CEP) team. CEP spearheads funding development and growth through partnerships, grants, sponsorships, and donations, for the purpose of creating social impact through YMCA’s programmes. The department is highly collaborative with other teams within the Programmes Division and with social enterprise business units to develop, plan and execute funding growth initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the stewardship and cultivation of existing volunteers, members, partners, donors and supporters.
• Develop with the team new events and activities to create opportunities for volunteer-members’ engagement, outreach and to grow awareness.
• Establish and nurture close working relationships with volunteer-members and partnerships or key personnel in various organisations.
• Assist to conceptualise and execute a volunteers-members’ retention and engagement strategy for regular members and partners.
• Formulate with the team the concept gather the content, develop the look and feel of the ideas, and construct the experience for the volunteer-members.
• Assist in establishing and managing the process for all documentations, submissions, deadlines, and recognition.
• Track and monitor reporting for donor management donations.
• Identify and engage new partners, potential prospects and donors.
Job Requirements:
• Recognised Diploma or Degree with some experience in customer service, sales, fundraising or volunteer management.
• Carries a passion for social impact and the benefits it brings to both beneficiaries and donors.
• A natural networker and enjoys marketing and able to communicate persuasively through presentations, as well as written and verbal discourse.
• Resourceful, creative, imaginative with an entrepreneurial attitude towards fundraising.
• Excellent in planning and organizing, able to handle multiple priorities, with a keen attention for details.
• Loves looking at the bright side of life and sharing it with others.
• Perfectly fine working alone or augmenting strengths within a team, towards greater success.
