Job Description

Description

Are you passionate about creating a product people love, and keen to create impact through your work? As a product management intern joining at an early stage startup, you will play a critical role in delivering the vision of YoungPlanet to users and key stakeholders, while addressing a wide range of business functions. This will, among other things, allow you to:

  • Participate actively in the product discovery and delivery processes, by building an understanding of design, economics, psychology, user experience, data science, and marketing & growth along the way.
  • Develop the ability to effectively prioritise issues and manage the tradeoffs between solutions in a data-driven manner.
  • Cultivate a focus on analysis and actions that are pragmatic and achievable, as opposed to theoretical best-practice.
  • Hone an ability to forecast unintended downstream effects of actions, and plan accordingly to mitigate against them.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead project discovery and development projects independently with an appropriate amount of guidance. These projects vary widely in scope due to the lean nature of a startup and will include:
    • Feature development as planned in the product roadmap, which you will actively help shape.
    • Managing bug reports through investigations and prioritisation exercises.
    • Conducting user interviews to create a repository of deep customer knowledge.
    • Conducting market research and case studies to maintain alignment between product decisions and business objectives.
    • Engaging in basic data analytics to validate product decisions.
  • Explore areas beyond the intern’s job scope to develop a holistic understanding of the startup environment (e.g. fundraising).

Opportunities

  • 1-1 feedback sessions and regular mentorship to guide development.
  • Exposure to a wide range of business functions.
  • Working in a fast moving, fun and collaborative work environment.
  • Potential conversion to a full-time role if performance exceeds expectations.

Qualifications

  • Currently an undergraduate student in any major.
  • Able to commit for a minimum of 10 weeks full-time and have flexible working arrangements.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem solving, a diligent attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to think in a structured manner are highly valued.
  • Prior internships experience in a tech company is strongly preferred.
  • Basic understanding of app development, data analytics.
  • Programming skills (Python, Mongo DB) is a bonus.
