Are you passionate about creating a product people love, and keen to create impact in your work? We want someone who's looking to do more than just develop; we're looking for someone eager to gain strong exposure to the business and strategic side of the equation, so as to develop a more holistic skillset.
As a software engineer intern joining at an early stage startup with strong funding, you will play a critical role in executing the vision of YoungPlanet for users and key stakeholders, while addressing a wide range of business functions. This will, among other things, allow you to:
- Gain exposure to the business strategy and product management aspect of YoungPlanet, beyond a pure focus on software development.
- Nurture strong communication skills through guided practice in storytelling and presentations to technical and non-technical teams.
- Write production level code that directly affects app performance and feature development.
- Hone an ability to forecast unintended downstream effects of actions, and plan accordingly to mitigate against them.
Responsibilities and Duties
You will work most closely with the Head of Product, while cooperating with our developers in these areas:
- Front-end development:
- Build new features.
- Back-end development:
- Server side development.
- Manage build releases.
- Bug fixes.
- Participate in other areas of the company:
- Product discovery process (user interviews, usability tests, etc).
- Business operations and strategy.

Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science or other quantitative fields
- Demonstrable experience in mobile app development (work experience or personal projects)
- Familiar with:
- React Native
- MongoDB (MQL)
- AWS
- Able to commit for a minimum of 10 weeks full-time and have flexible working arrangements.
- Demonstrated initiative & resourcefulness in problem solving, a diligent attitude and the ability to think in a structured manner are highly valued.
